Course Information

For the delegate to be trained to be competent to inspect and test electrical appliances, fully assessing if it is safe for use based upon both testing and inspection.

Who Should Attend?

PAT Testing is a skill that can be learned by almost anyone such as office maintenance staff or landlords. Some basic electrical knowledge is useful but not essential.

Joining Instructions

This course enable attendees to carry out the process of Inspecting and Testing Electrical equipment ensuring that the participants understand sufficient electrical principles to be competent to carry out this work. This course meets the HSE requirements. Candidates are encouraged to bring their own PAT tester, if they have one., , It deals with a risk assessment approach to carrying out this activity to ultimately ensure that electrical equipment is kept safe in the most effective way.

Course Agenda

Equipment construction and classification will be covered in the first part of the course, providing an understanding of the different types of equipment and their safety requirements. Inspection frequency will also be discussed to ensure that participants are aware of how often they should be checking their equipment. Visual inspection techniques will be taught to identify any potential hazards. ##$$##The second part of the course will focus on combined inspection and testing methods, using appropriate test equipment. Participants will learn how to properly use and maintain these tools. Recording of results will also be emphasized to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations. Procedures for dealing with damaged or faulty equipment will be covered to ensure safe handling and disposal. ##$$##Specific topics such as extension leads, microwave ovens, and information technology equipment will be addressed in the third part of the course. Participants will learn how to properly inspect and test these types of equipment to ensure their safety. They will also be taught how to handle and maintain these items in a safe manner. ##$$##The final part of the course will focus on practical exercises and assessments to reinforce the knowledge and skills learned throughout the training. Participants will have the opportunity to put their learning into practice and receive feedback from the trainer. They will also have the chance to ask any remaining questions and clarify any doubts. By the end of the course, participants will have a thorough understanding of PAT and be equipped with the necessary skills to carry out inspections and testing in their workplace..
